Janet Kumpu: Business Unit Director

Janet Kumpu is the business area manager of Fortress Technologies, a subsidiary of General Dynamics, and is responsible for the company's overall strategic direction. Kumpu leads Fortress' strategic business and growth plans, driving targeted market capture strategies within the Public Sector, as well as leading efforts to penetrate new emerging and expansion markets. Kumpu's focus is on maintaining operational agility within General Dynamics while enhancing existing products across both companies to deliver market-leading tactical wireless communication systems to a broad set of customers and partners who desire commercial off-the-shelf solutions

Janet Kumpu joined Fortress in 1997, serving as both CFO and COO prior to being named President in 2004. She was instrumental in changing the strategic direction of the company in 2005, recapitalizing Fortress and focusing the company on secure wireless networking. Kumpu's strategic vision and leadership has been integral to the pioneering technology, product development and market success of Fortress.

Prior to Fortress, Kumpu held various executive positions in the information technology industry with a long tenure at Digital Equipment Corporation (Digital). She has more than 20 years of management experience with positions in business operations, strategic planning, finance, and business consulting. With extensive experience in technology markets, Kumpu has proven experience leading organizations to meet their strategic objectives.

Kumpu holds a BS in Business Administration from Bryant University, graduating magna cum laude

Magued Barsoum: Chief Technical Officer and VP of Product Management

Magued Barsoum is the Chief Technical Officer and VP of Product Management at Fortress Technologies, responsible for the overall corporate technical direction as well overall system architecture.

Prior to joining Fortress Technologies, Barsoum was a Principal Architect with EZchip Technologies, focusing on next generation chip architectures as well as system designs around the EZchip product family. Before EZchip, Barsoum was Principal Systems Architect at Quarry Technologies, focusing on the packet forwarding path of the iQ4000/iQ8000 Services Edge Switches. Previously, Barsoum also held engineering positions working on DSLAMs at both US Robotics and 3Com.

Barsoum holds a BS and MS from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, an MA from Brandeis University, and has earned credit towards the completion of a PhD as a Guggenheim Fellow at California Institute of Technology

Owais Hassan: Vice President of Engineering

Owais Hassan is responsible for all engineering, QA and development at Fortress Technologies, where he oversees and leading a R&D team of skilled engineers who have been responsible for the development and delivery of Fortress' differentiated wireless infrastructure, radio and security products.

Hassan has more than twenty years of industry experience in the design and implementation of advanced networking equipment and hard real-time embedded systems. He has served with leading companies, including Legra Systems, Sycamore Networks and FORE Systems, and has held senior engineering positions at both start-up and large companies, and delivered multiple advanced technology products (wireless, security and network communications equipment) from inception to successful volume production. Hassan was the founding Director of Engineering at Legra Systems, where he led the development of Wi-Fi switch, radio and wireless security technologies and delivered the WLAN Switch in record time. Prior to Legra, Hassan developed Sycamore Networks' 10G PHY, SONET and FEC technologies and delivered its carrier-class "Transport Switch" with a capacity of 160Gbps. At FORE, he developed the very first OC-48c ATM Port in the industry, developed packet forwarding and traffic engineering technologies and contributed to the development of FORE's award-winning ASX family of "Internet Switches" (10G to 40G). At Union Switch & Signal, Hassan delivered multiple advanced "Safety-Critical, Fault-Tolerant, Automatic Train Control Systems" with successful deployments and transit operations in the major cities of North America and Europe.

Hassan holds a Master's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) from West Virginia University.

Dennis McLain: Vice President of Strategic Development

Dennis McLain is responsible for business strategy, strategic partnerships, and market development at Fortress. McLain also works closely with the CTO and the Fortress engineering organization to identify opportunities in new and emerging wireless technologies, product requirements, and markets.

Before joining Fortress Technologies, McLain held a variety of positions in his 19 years at Sun Microsystems Federal, including CTO, DoD Marketing, defense and intelligence business development, product requirements, and R&D programs. A career military officer, he retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel and Command Pilot, and received 19 decorations and awards, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Defense Superior Service Medal, and Four Air Medals.

McLain is a Distinguished Graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a BS in Engineering Management, he also earned a Master of Science in Business Administration with a major in Computers and Information Systems from UCLA, and a Ph.D. in Management and Information Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Mike Koravos: Vice President of Operations

Mike Koravos is responsible for company-wide operations at Fortress Technologies, including manufacturing, customer service and IT management functions. Since joining Fortress, Koravos has been instrumental in scaling the company's manufacturing capabilities, enabling high volume, high quality production of its secure wireless networking product lines.

As an experienced, successful operations executive, Koravos specializes in leading technology companies, building successful programs designed to meet organizational growth potentials. Prior to joining Fortress, Koravos was VP of Operations for Zydacron Inc., a leading videoconferencing company, and held an executive management position at Itran Corp.
